Experiencing constipation with changes in weather conditions is a very real problem that happens to many people. It is usually because of lifestyle factors like diet and exercise that people have trouble regulating their bowel movements during this time of the year, when there is a shift in temperature. With winter approaching, it is important to manage your health by eating fibre-rich foods, drinking at least eight glasses of water every day and, of course, exercising. One thing that can offer relief from constipation is yoga. So, if you are not regularly doing yoga asanas, this may be an ideal reason to start.

Constipation is a gastrointestinal disorder that can cause infrequent bowel movements. It causes the stool to become hard, making a person strain a lot. Constipation can also cause abdominal pain and/or bloating, and in severe cases, it also leads to blood in stools. It can be caused by poor diet (lack of fibre and water); leading a sedentary lifestyle; being on certain medications; and hormonal changes.

According to celebrity yoga and holistic wellness expert Anshuka Parwani, you must do some yoga asanas every day to regulate your bowel movement and improve gut health. She demonstrated the asanas in a social media video; take a look.

Malasana (Garland Pose)

In this yoga asana, you squat all the way down by folding your knees and stretching your pelvic muscles. Without touching your buttocks with the floor, start walking gently in this position. It will put pressure on your abdominal muscles and relieve you of constipation issues.

Udarakarshanasana (Lower Spine Twist Pose)

In this asana, the yoga expert suggested you sit in the squat pose and then twist one of your legs to bring the thighs to the front. Repeat with the other leg, as demonstrated in the video. You can support your body by placing your hands on the floor behind you.

Pawanmuktasana (Wind Relieving Pose)

In this asana, you place your legs in the air by bending them at the knees. Lie down on your back and gently rock yourself up and then place your legs on the mat while keeping them bent at the knee, and with your pelvic muscles stretched. Do this a few times to release the gas trapped in the body and prevent bloating.
