The term "mudra" refers to gestures that influence the intricate network of Nadis, or energy channels, within the body. This Sanskrit word, meaning "gesture," describes how these hand movements affect the flow of prana, or life force energy, through the Nadis. Ancient yogis extensively studied the neurological system and the interconnectedness of nerves in the hands. Using mudras, they discovered methods to activate and establish a circuit of prana within the body.

Spiritual and Yoga Leader Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, Founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, explains how these energy circuits utilize prana in specific ways, subtly affecting various bodily systems:

Pranam Mudra

Formation Of Pranam Mudra

  1. Bring your right and left palms in front of your heart chakra.
  2. Allow your palms to face each other with your fingers pointing upward.
  3. Slowly bring your palms together so that each finger of your right-hand joins with its counterpart of the left hand.
  4. Bring your palms together so that all the mounds of the right hand connect with the counterpart of the left hand.
  5. While placing the mudra in front of your Hridaya Chakra, bend your wrists at 90 degrees so your forearms are straight and parallel to the ground. Your elbows should point outward.
  6. While placing the Mudra at your Ajna Chakra or the Sahasrar Chakra, you may alter the angle of your wrists and elbows, but always ensure that your palms remain joined.
  7. Ensure that your spine is straight, either in a seated posture or in a standing position.

Benefits Of Pranam Mudra

  2. It brings you in synch with every inhale and exhale, deepening the connection between your external and internal self.
  3. It helps you in your spiritual communication with the higher powers.
  4. This is a compelling Mudra to help you bring balance to your physical and spiritual self to achieve a state of 'Sam' or equilibrium.
  5. Pranam Mudra is a beautiful practice for those suffering from anxiety or other nerve-related issues.
  6. A mudra imbibes a sense of humility and gratitude in the practitioner.

Prapti Mudra

Formation Of Prapti Mudra:

  1. Bring your fingers together and cup your palm.
  2. Ensure that your cupped palm faces upward, and place the back of your palms over your knees.
  3. Without gaps, your fingers must be in complete contact with each other edgewise.
  4. You may also place your cupped palms in front of your chest.
  5. Ensure an upright spine whether you are in a seated posture or standing position.
  6. Close your eyes and maintain a natural pattern of breath.

Benefits Of Prapti Mudra:
