Overthinking is a terrible affliction. It yields no results but ends up tormenting a person who has a habit of spiralling. Not only can overthinking cause an emotional and mental upheaval it can also affect the physical health of a person by suppressing their appetite and causing problems with sleep. In the long run, it can be extremely damaging, which is why experts suggest doing exercises (mostly yoga) and following hobbies, etc., to combat this problem. Sometimes, overthinking is an accompaniment of stress. Nonetheless, it is important to know about the tools with which to fight this problem and lead a healthy life.
Celebrity yoga and holistic wellness expert Anshuka Parwani said when the mind is buzzing with too many thoughts and you are feeling overwhelmed, consider incorporating some mudras into your daily routine, as they can have "profound effects on managing overthinking, promoting mental health and enhancing overall well-being".
Taking to Instagram, Parwani demonstrated the Ksepana Mudra and said that a few minutes of it every day will "help you to change your state of mind". It is anyway a good idea to do yoga and practise meditation every day for your overall well-being. Sitting in a mudra can deal with your unnecessary and loud thoughts to bring some peace to your mind.
"This powerful mudra helps us let go of what no longer serves us and invites positivity and clarity into our lives. Take a deep breath, find your balance, and allow yourself to reset," the yoga expert, who has trained many Bollywood A-listers like Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt, said.
While demonstrating the mudra, Parwani suggested that one must be conscious of their surroundings and their body's movements while practising any kind of mudra, as it will help them to steer their mind from 'wandering thoughts'.
Ksepana Mudra, a hand gesture in Ayurveda and yoga, is believed to have various health benefits. It is also known as the 'Expelling Mudra' or the 'Water Releasing Mudra'. It involves a specific hand position that helps balance the body's energy.

To practise Ksepana Mudra:
Sit comfortably with your back straight.
Place the tip of your ring finger on the base of your thumb.
Place the tip of your middle finger on the tip of your thumb.
Keep your index and little fingers extended.
Hold for 5-10 minutes, ideally during meditation or deep breathing.
