Malaika Arora yoga routine: Malaika Arora's association with yoga and fitness has been a long one, which explains the many difficult yoga poses and asanas that she manages to do on a daily basis. No exercise routine is too difficult for the actor-and-model who -- through her many videos on social media -- continues to inspire her fans and followers to take up exercising and improve overall health. From difficult bends to twisting of limbs, Malaika is able to do it all!

Recently, she was seen perfecting the headstand routine, also known as 'Sirsasana'. Take a look.

In the video posted on Instagram, the 51-year-old was seen performing the difficult asana with ease. It requires one to balance their entire body weight on their head and neck, while lifting their legs and keeping them straight in the air. If it is not done properly, this asana can cause serious injuries, mainly in the head and spine.

Sirsasana, however, is seen as an energising pose that requires a flexible spine and shoulders. You also need immense upper body strength, which Malaika clearly possesses. In order to do it, you need to be focused and prepared, having learnt the proper technique before attempting it on your own.

Since the actor is heavily into yoga and fitness, she managed to pull the stunt in an effortless manner. But, for beginners, there are a few preliminary asanas that can be done. In her video, Malaika demonstrated the pre-Sirsasana asanas herself.

The first thing to do would be to do the 'Mountain Walk'. Assume the Mountain Pose by bending forward and making a bridge with your body. Now while continuing to arch your spine, bring your legs forward towards the arms. Repeat this a few times.

The second drill to help you perfect a headstand is to perform 'Mountain To Plank Pose'. Do the Mountain Pose and then bring your body forward to assume a plank position. Repeat a few times.

'Dolphin Pose To Elbow Plank' is the next exercise. In this, you first do the Dolphin Pose by bending over on the yoga mat and stretching your upper body, followed by assuming a plank position.

Finally, you can do the Dolphin Pose, as demonstrated in the video, and hold it. You can also try its variation by lifting one leg while holding the weight with the other.
