Starting your day with a calming yoga practice can create a sense of peace that carries you throughout the day. Incorporating just a few minutes of yoga into your morning routine can enhance your mood, improve flexibility, and gently and meaningfully awaken your body. Not only will you feel more centred, but you'll also cultivate a harmonious connection between mind and body. In just a few minutes, you can embrace peace and positivity that lasts throughout your day. Begin your day with intention and calm.

Here are ten relaxing yoga poses to help you start your day right and set a positive tone for the hours ahead:

  1. Mountain Pose (Tadasana): Slowly roll up to a standing position, stacking your spine and bringing your arms alongside your body with your feet hip-width apart. Grounding yourself in this pose promotes stability and balance. Take several deep breaths, feel your feet' connection with the earth, and set your intentions for the day.
  2. Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana): From Downward Dog, walk your feet toward your hands, coming into a forward bend with your knees slightly bent. Hang your arms and let your head dangle, releasing any pressure on the neck, back and hamstrings while calming the mind.
  3. Triangle Pose (Trikonasana): From Warrior II, straighten your right leg, hinge at the hip and reach your right arm down towards your ankle, extending your left arm upwards. This pose opens the hips and chest while stretching the legs, promoting balance and grounding.
  4. Cat-Cow Stretch (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana): In a tabletop position and tailbone (Cat Pose). Repeat this flowing motion for several breaths. This sequence warms up the spine and promotes flexibility and balance, making it perfect for easing into your day.
  5. Downward-facing dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana): Press your hands firmly into the floor and rest your head between your arms. This posture rejuvenates the body, extends the backbone, hamstrings, and calves, and promotes new blood flow.
  6. Supine Spinal Twist (Supta Matsyendrasana): This healthy posture improves spinal flexibility and encourages peace, allowing you to remove residual pressure from your body.
  7. Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I): Step back with your left foot while keeping the right knee bent, facing forward. Raise your arms overhead and gaze forward.
  8. Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II): This pose enhances focus and stability while stretching the inner thighs and promoting empowerment.
  9. Child's Pose (Balasana): Begin kneeling, bringing your big toes together and sitting on your heels or resting them alongside your body.
  10. Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana): Inhale and reach your arms overhead, reaching for your feet or shins.
