The symptoms of early menopause are similar to natural menopause, and include irregular periods, Hot flashes, night sweats, frequent UTIs, insomnia, vaginal dryness, and emotional changes.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and other medications

Effectively manages hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness. In case of certain preexisting risk factors such as history of breast cancer, obesity, diabetes or hypertension, instead of direct hormones, phytoestrogens or estrogen receptor modulators can be used to manage menopausal symptoms.

Early or premature menopause can increase risk of certain health conditions like osteoporosis, heart disease, depression, and various neurological diseases like dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

Early menopause and Alzheimer's disease

A study published in JAMA Neurology suggested that early menopause and starting hormone therapy late may increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease.
