We have lived with the COVID-19 virus and the devastations that it has caused globally for almost 2 years now. While India successfully controlled the first wave of the pandemic, the second wave-exposed the Indian healthcare system as being dangerously fragile. It made the limited healthcare infrastructure around us crumble and we stared at unimaginable scenes of pain and suffering. A shortage of oxygen, hospital beds, medicines, nurses and doctors . India was brought to it's knees praying for the suffering to end. And now, we are facing the possibility of a third wave, which may be here as early as August-September.
Thehealthsite.com Summit 2021 attempts to focus on all this and more. Eminent personalities from the field of traditional and integrative medicine, and healthcare are participating in this health summit 2021 to share their invaluable insights on the subject.
Divided into four sessions, our panelists in the first session include Dr Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS, Dr Sushila Kataria, , Senior Director Internal Medicine, Medanta, and Kamna Chibber, Head of Mental Health Department and Behaviourial Sciences, Fortis Healthcare. They speak on how India faced the second wave of the pandemic and the lessons that were learnt from it.
The second session of the Health Summit 2021 focuses on how India is preparing for the impending third wave of COVID-19, how prepared are we to deal with it, how it will impact India and the importance of vaccination. Our panellists for this session include Dr. Paritosh Baghel, Consultant Internal Medicine, SL Raheja Hospital- Fortis Associate, Dr Rahul Pandit, Director, Critical Care Services, Fortis Hospitals, Mumbai and Member-Maharashtra COVID-19 Task Force, and Dr Sandeep Budhiraja, Group Director, Max Healthcare.
The third session of the Health Summit 2021 focuses on the role of alternative therapies or integrative medicine to combat the virus. Renowned personalities from the field of Homeopathy and Ayurveda, Dr Kalyan Banerji, Founder of Dr Kalyan Bannerji Clinic and Dr Mahesh Vyas, Dean, AIIA Ayurveda, have joined us for this session. We also have with us Ms Ishi Khosla, a renowned nutritionist, and yoga expert Ms Rashi Rao.
In the fourth session, we seek to give an insight into the Indian Healthcare infrastructure, the developments that have taken place in this sector, how it can improved further, public-private collaboration in this field and also the rural-urban divide.
