India has reported four cases of Covid-19 caused by the BF.7 variant this year. While India has approved several vaccines for its nationwide inoculation drive, most of the people have been administered either Serum Institute-manufactured Covishield or Bharat Biotech's Covaxin. India has successfully isolated a sample of the SARS-CoV-2 virus containing the BF.7, a sub-lineage of the Omicron variant, which is suspected to be behind the surge in Covid-19 cases in several countries including China.
