Braxton hicks or false labour alarms are common as one nears the due date. Rushing to the hospital at every false alarm is not a good idea. For a first time mother, it is difficult to differentiate between false and true labour pains. This video will help you identify when you are ready for labour. Dr Shefali Tyagi explains the 4 basic signs or symptoms of labour pains. According to Dr Tyagi, you will have to consciously observe and feel the differences for 2-3 hours if you are in doubt.

Whether it is decrease in your baby's movements, the frequency of contractions, or your water breaking - you need to be vigilant about every sign that could mean it is time. Following these instructions properly will save you from unnecessary trips to the hospital and help you be handle the stress without panicking.
