Eating oats in breakfast can help in lower blood sugar levels as oats contain a fibre called Beta-Glucans. Beta-Glucans maintain the blood sugar levels in the body. They also take time to digest hence it slows the release of glucose from meals into the bloodstream.
These fibres also activate a protein in the body which regulates the amount of glucose made and released into the body by the liver. Oats also lower bad cholesterol levels and hence maintain cardiovascular health.
To make oatmeal add nuts, low-fat milk, and fruits, try to avoid sugary foods as oats are high in carbohydrates and adding honey, brown sugar or other sugar items can increase your blood glucose levels.
