Working out on an empty is not generally supported by evidence. Nutrition and fitness expert, Manisha Chopra says it is very important for people with health conditions to eat before exercise.
If you're doing a killer workout, not fasting is better. When you exercise on an empty stomach, you may burn valuable energy sources and loose stamina. You can also have low blood sugar, feel lightheadedness, nauseated and shaky. Further, working out on an empty stomach could also make your body use protein as fuel, which is a big no. This leaves your body with less protein, which is needed to build and repair muscles after exercise. And thus, lack of protein can lead to injuries.
