Now that you know how to do the dumbbell flyes correctly, we move on to cable crossover flyes. A cable crossover fly is similar to the dumbbell flyes but is done on a cable crossover machine. Kaizzad Capadia, fitness trainer and co-founder of K11 Fitness Academy prefers bench presses over flyes. However, you will have to opt for flyes and not presses if you are suffering from an elbow injury or any other injury that stops you from doing any of the bench press exercises. The cable crossover machine has a weight stack attached to it apart from the cables. You can increase the intensity of your workouts by increasing the poundage of the weights.
The flyes will help you stick to your workout routine even if you’re injured (please avoid exercising if the injuries are severe. Consult your doctor before hitting the gym). In this video, Kaizzad shows you how to do the cable crossover flyes correctly, the similarities and differences between dumbbell flyes and the cable crossover fly and the right position to perform this exercise. These exercises are ideal for the pectorals. ‘Be it a flat bench press, dumbbell bench press, incline or decline bench press, the breathing technique for all the weight lifting exercises remains the same,’ says Kaizzad.
