Most men skip the lateral raise, but little do they know that it is one of the best moves for sculpting shoulders. The exercise mainly targets the middle of your deltoids. Adding the move to your upper body routine will improve your posture and also prevent injury while you are picking up weights in other exercises.
However, when you are performing the exercise, it is important that you execute it correctly. It’s an exercise where you are not allowed to ‘cheat’, that is, use jerky upper body movements to do more repetitions. It’s important to use only your arms for and not take support from your upper body while performing this move. Also, never hold your breath while performing the exercise as it can cause you to feel dizzy and light-headed. Never twist or bend your spine excessively as it may lead to lower back problems.
Are you ready to try it? In this video, Kaizzad Capadia, fitness trainer and co-founder of K11 Fitness Academy, shows you exactly how to do a lateral raise so that you have no scope of making a mistake. Not only does he show you the right form and technique but he also explains how to position yourself and what mistakes you can avoid. Also, try these exercises to get toned arms, shoulders, back and belly.
