Khyati Rupani, founder of www.balancenutrition.in, is not just a diet and nutrition expert, but has also lost more than 30 kgs herself! So she knows exactly how an overweight person feels and what he wants from a diet plan. In a Facebook Live video, she touched upon many topics like weight loss, PCOS, ideal meal plans for various needs and also shared her own weight loss story. She always has an interesting way to approach problems. "As a dietician, it is my job to present a tailored diet plan that suits a person's body and lifestyle. I cannot ask a person living in a foreign country all alone to eat only homecooked food! I have to help him make the most of his resources and equip him to make healthy choices,' she says. Speaking about PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), she explains the role of right nutrition in dealing with it and other hormonal issues. "Anything that comes out of a packet has preservatives. Nowadays people consciously try to eat healthy, but little do we realise that even something as seemingly harmless as bread is unhealthy!" Khyati says. She says that while cutting down on sugar or salt is easy, we can never identify the hidden sources of sugar and salt. She advises that we should take care of what we eat always, instead of trying to mend ways only after becoming diabetic or hypertensive. "Eating only healthy and saying no to foods you love is not possible. What is important is to eat in moderation and be active enough," advises Khyati. She also says that we should try different foods, textures, grains and fruits. Also, she shares tips on how to eat healthy when eating out -- whether it is Chinese, Thai, Greek, Italian or even Indian!
