Wish you had washboard abs, toned thighs and nice shapely butt? Well, this one exercise can help tone these common ‘problem areas’. Known as the mountain climber, this exercise helps exercise your core, buttocks, thighs and even strengthens your upper body. Fairly simple to do, the mountain climber requires you to start in the plank position and then move your legs (alternatively) towards your tummy. The crunch that happens when you bend and push your knee towards your chest helps tone the muscles of your thighs and buttocks. What’s more, since this exercise is done while you are in the plank position, it also engages your core and helps give you a flat belly. The plank position also helps tone your shoulders, chest and arms.
In this video Shanay Norvell, a fitness expert, tells you how to do the basic mountain climber exercise. This is the first stage and this exercise has a number of variations that target other areas like your love handles. Watch this video to find out how you can get in the best shape of your life.
