Made famous by yoga guru Ramdev Baba, kapalbhati pranayama is excellent to help you detox by releasing toxins and revving up your metabolism. The breathing technique can be helpful in releasing 80 percent of toxins from your body as you exhale. The vigorous breathing also helps cleanse your liver. The controlled breathing can also help you deal with stress. It can also be an amazing long-term approach for maintaining your weight and staying fit. You should also try variations of pranayama to reap their benefits.
Yoga guru, Hansaji says that one must follow a few precautions when performing kapalbhati pranayama:
- Avoid performing this breathing technique before going to bed.
- Ensure that you practise kapalbhati on an empty stomach or, at least, two hours after your last meal.
- Take care not to perform kapalbhati pranayama if you are pregnant or have heart disease or high blood pressure.
- If you feel any discomfort, nausea or dizziness while performing the pranayama, discontinue it.
