Healthy recipe: Mustard fish curry

Traditional Bengali fish curry with that finger licking goodness.

Mustard seeds are very beneficial and have huge number of medicinal properties. This Bengali delicacy is nutritious and delicious. Enjoy it with jeera rice. Ingredients: For fish:

  • 4 pieces rohu (river fish)
  • 2 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

For gravy:

  • 5 - 6 tbsp of mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsp poppy seeds or khus khus
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric
  • Some oil
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • Marinate fish with salt and turmeric on both sides.
  • Add oil in a pan and shallow fry the fish.
  • For the curry, dry grind mustard seeds, poppy seeds, green chillies, turmeric and salt together.
  • Once done, add some water and churn again.
  • In another pan, add little oil and this paste to the pan.
  • Once the paste comes to a boil, slowly add water and let it boil again.
  • Add the fried fish and let it stay in the pan for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve hot with rice.
