Healthy recipe -- low-calorie mayonnaise

Whether you are packing your own evening snack or hitting the nearby deli, here is a healthy swap you can make to cut back on calories without skipping out on the flavour. This healthy mayonnaise is low in calories and won't show on your waistline. Prepared with brown bread and curd, it is rich in both fibre and calcium. It is also rich in carbohydrates and can give you an instant energy boost.

And if you absolutely have no time to prepare mayonnaise at home, mustard is a better choice than store-bought mayonnaise when it comes to condiment for your sandwich.   • 4 fresh brown bread slices
  • 1 cup hung low-fat curd (dahi), made from 99.7% fat-free milk
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper powder
  • 1 tsp mustard (rai/sarson) powder
  • 1 and 1/2tsp powdered sugar
  • Salt to taste


  • Remove the crust from all the bread slices.
  • Combine all the ingredients including the bread slices and blend in a mixer till smooth.
  • Refrigerate it for 1 to 2 hours and use as required.
