Beat the summer heat with this delicious mango raita

How do you beat the summer heat? If ice-creams and cold drinks are what you and your kids swear by then here is a new mango raita recipe that you can try. Summer and mangoes are inseparable. Apart from its delicious taste mangoes are loaded with nutrients. Mangoes can be extremely effective for preventing heat strokes and exhaustion in summers. If you suffer from vitamin C deficiency or are lacking vitamin A in your diet, then mango is what you should eat to meet your requirement of these vitamins naturally. Yoghurt or dahi can be an excellent healthy alternative to ice-cream as they are packed with nutrients, vitamins and calcium which help to soothe ulcers, allergies and heat boils during the season. Also, try these healthy and cooling drinks to beat the heat.


  • 1 and 1/2 cups fresh curd
  • 1 and 1/2 cubs mango cubes
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder (elaichi)


  • Combine the curd and cardamom powder in a deep bowl and mix well with the help of a whisk.
  • Then add the mangoes and mix well. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and serve chilled.

Gooseberry (Amla): A great refresher and reverses the ageing effects caused by strong sun rays while providing extra stamina for gym sessions. It benefits heart and hair.

Apricot: They can be of great help for people who develop acne in summers as they provide the body with iron, vitamin C, potassium and fibre. They can be a great pre- or post-workout snack.

Cardamom: A cup of cardamom tea can do wonders for those who have been in the hot sun for long because of its detoxifying properties.

Corn: A good source of pantothenic acid, which provides vitamin B to lower stress levels, corn in any form whether it is roasted or boiled is a healthy snack as it lowers cholesterol levels.
