India on Thursday reported its first two cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 from Karnataka. Speaking about the risk factors associated with the newly detected variant of concern, Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director, WHO South-East Asia Region cautioned India that the pandemic is not over yet and people must follow all the safety protocols to stay safe from another wave of coronavirus in the upcoming months. "People must wear well-fitting mask which covers their nose and mouth well, keep distance, avoid poorly ventilated or crowded spaces, keep hands clean, cover cough and sneeze and get vaccinated. And continue to take all precautionary measures even after getting vaccinated," Dr Khetripal said.
