May 5 is World Asthma Day.

In this video, yoga guru Rudra Shivananda teaches a highly effective, yet simple breathing technique or pranayama to prevent as well as lessen asthma attacks. This pranayama is not a replacement for medical supervision, but can be a supplementary technique to those who suffer from asthma. Nadi shodhan is another therapeutic breathing technique for asthma.

The yogic technique comprises three parts, and each one involves three different breathing techniques. It is a great technique to energise the respiratory system. Deep breathing strengthens breathing and respiratory muscles so that asthma attacks are reduced. Practising this healing pranayama on a regular basis will prevent you from asthma.
