Dengue is a vector-borne disease which is spread through a mosquito bite. Characterized by severe flu-like symptoms such as high-grade fever accompanied by nausea, severe headache, skin rash or joint pain. The warning signs are usually observed after 3- 7 days after being infected with the parasite. Diagnosis of dengue is based on the symptoms experienced which is followed by a blood test. Some of the common yet lethal forms of dengue disease are dengue haemorrhagic fever, dengue shock syndrome and dengue hepatitis.
