Covid Vaccine: SII Covid Jab COVOVAX Gets Approved By DCGI’S, Watch Video

On December 28 the DCGI approved COVOVAX for restricted use in emergency situations in adults in the 12 to 17 years of age group. The director of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Serum Institute of India (SII) applied to DCGI on March 16. India launched a vaccination drive for people more than 45 years of age on April 1.

Covid Vaccine for Kids: COVOVAX was approved by the Drug Controller of India (DCGI). COVOVAX was prepared in Pune at the Serum Institute. The COVOVAX vaccine has been approved for restricted emergency use only. Well, this vaccine is for children aged 7 to 11 years. The DCGI's nod came after the subject expert committee on Covid-19 of the CSDCO advised permitting emergency use of this vaccine last week. According to the reports, the DCGI has also approved India's first indigenously developed mRNA vaccine against the Covid-19 virus.
