Can Sleep Apnea Cause Cardiac Arrest? Sleep Apnea is a major sleeping disorder in which a person stops breathing in sleep. A blocked airways does not let air reach to your lungs thereby often causing a person to snore loudly or gasp for air. People with Sleep Apnea stop breathing 10 to 20 seconds while they sleep. Men are most likely to have sleep apnea then women. Symptoms for the condition includes daytime fatigue or needing a nap, snoring at night, waking up with dry or sore throat, inability to focus, choking or acid reflux at night, and not feeling refreshed in the morning.
