A week before your wedding you wake up and notice that painful, cystic acne under the skin even after cutting down on gluten, dairy and sugar and drinking green juice every day. Your skin care routine has also been on point—you received plenty of facials and used only oil-free products on your skin. In this video, Dr Rasna Kapoor, Senior Consulting Dermatologist at Kaya Skin Clinics tells you how you can get rid of acne in a week. Also, follow these tips to deal with acne.

  • Make sure that you wash your face three times a day with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Use a salicylic acid based cleanser like Sali-Q Active Cleanser that helps reduce oil production by the sebaceous glands. Here are quick tips to get rid of pimples overnight.
  • Be sure that you keep your skin moisturised at all times. Use an oil-free moisturiser that can seal the moisture into your skin and prevent flaking and drying. Opt for a product that contains glycerin and alpha hydroxyl acids as these ingredients absorb water from the air and keep your skin moisturised.
  • Also, make sure that you exfoliate your skin two to three times a week to unclog the skin pores. Just make sure that the exfoliating scrub you are using does not contain any abrasive agent as it can irritate your skin.
  • Also, do not pop the pimples. When you try to extract the pimples yourself, you damage the pores, making them unable to go back to their original size. Get it removed by a certified dermatologist who will do the procedure in sterile conditions, ensuring your pores remain unharmed. Here is a dermatologist’s guide to managing open pores.

So if you find yourself with a monster pimple in the days leading up to your wedding, you know what to do.
