Safe Sex

Safe sex is sexual activity engaged in by people who have taken precautions to protect themselves against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as HIV/AIDS. Promoting safe sex is now one of the aims of sex education. Safe sex is effective in avoiding STIs only if both parties involved in sexual intercourse agree on it and stick to it.

Use a condom. It is the best way to protect you from STIs. Delay sexual activity until you are prepared both physically and emotionally to have sex. Limit your sex partners. The safest sex is with one partner who has sex only with you. Ask a potential sex partner about his or her sexual history. Ask a potential sex partner to be tested for HIV and other STIs. Use a male condom or female condom every time you have sex.
