Cough and cold, also known as common cold, is a condition that all of us have suffered for quite a number of times in life. It comes with high fever, a nagging muscle spasm and coughing and congestion. Common cough and cold is, in most cases, the result of a viral attack. Though not a condition to be worried about, it weakens you and may make you miss work. However, the good news is that there are various easy and simple ways to keep the cough and cold bugs at bay.
Maintaining hand hygiene is extremely important to protect yourself from cough and cold because the viruses that trigger the condition thrive on your palms. The duration of a rinse should ideally be 20 seconds. In case of non-availability of soap and water, an alcohol-based sanitizer could be your saviour. Always carry one with you.
Make sure that you don’t touch your eyes, mouth or nose if your hands are not clean or washed. The culprits behind cough and cold sneak in to your system through the mucous membranes—the moist folds of your eyes, nose and face.
Avoid contact with people suffering from common cold to prevent contamination. Also, avoid contacts with others if you are sick.
