Mouth cancer can occur anywhere within the oral cavity including lips, tongue, gums, inner side of the cheeks, top of the mouth and behind the last teeth. When a mouth ulcer does not heal even after 3 weeks, it may indicate development of mouth cancer. Smoking, drinking alcohol and chewing tobacco are some factors that increase the risk of mouth cancer. Treatment depends on its type and progression. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are presently used for its treatment.
