Woman dies after delivery, committee formed to probe the incident
Maternal mortality refers to the death of a woman who’s pregnant or within 42 days of the termination of pregnancy. According to the United Nations, a mother dies every ten minutes in India with the current recorded numbers at around 57000 in 2010. Most of these deaths are caused due to poverty and malnutrition, lack of awareness and proper hygienic facilities and poor access to healthcare facilities.
