Liver failure

Liver failure occurs when a major portion of liver tissue undergoes irreparable damage. Thus puts a person in a life threatening condition. Though it is a gradual process but in some unexpected circumstances like medicinal overdose, side-effect and intake of poison, acute liver failure can also occur. Also, hepatitis, alcohol abuse, cirrhosis, hemochromatosis and malnutrition are the common causes of such ailment. Early symptoms of liver failure include nausea, fatigue, diarrhea and reduced appetite while in extreme conditions, jaundice, abdominal swelling, mental confusion and even coma seems apparent. If detected in primary stage, liver failure can be treated with proper medication while in later stages liver transplant is the only treatment option available.
