An alert has been issued for leptospirosis, or rat fever in Kerala as the rising cases of the disease in the flood hit areas of Kozhikode breeds this rare bacterial infection.
With the flood rescue operations now over, health authorities in Kerala on Friday asked all those who came in contact with the flood waters to take preventive action for leptospirosis, mostly spread by rodents.

Golden Hour rescue wagon is an initiative by the Brains Hospital, Bangalore, which is equipped with 8 beds, oxygen cylinders, warmer, multi-para monitor, suction line, IV fluids, splint and wound dressing materials and all emergency medicines.
Healthcare workers should be trained appropriately such that they can identify and assess any risk factors and take immediate action. There should also be a system in place to educate people on hygiene and hand washing techniques.
