Gastroparesis

Gastroparesis is a pathological condition which arises due to functional abnormality of stomach muscles (muscle contraction decreases). Reduced contraction of the muscles creates an impediment in the movement of food substances from the stomach to the small intestine. Hence, food gets retained in the stomach for a longer period which decelerates the process of digestion. Gastroparesis often induces symptoms like vomiting, nausea and indigestion. Currently, there is no appropriate treatment available for gastroparesis, but proper dietary modification helps to keep such problems at bay.
