It is also called Deoxyribonucleaic acid, and is the molecule that provides genetic instructions to body, to function in a particular way. Formed as a helical structure, it is made up of four types of neucleotides, namely guanine (G), adenine (A), thymine (T) and cytosine (C). DNA carries all the specific traits that make up a person, including how he/she looks, characteristics, susceptibility to infections, allergies and even the colour of a person's hair and eyes. It is also the reason for people to be predisposed to cancers or certain types of genetic illnesses.
