Dark Spots

Dark spots or hyperpigmentation is a condition caused by excessive levels of the pigment, melanin. This pigment is responsible for the colour in our skin. Dark spots are common in people with dark skin as they are prone to having increased levels of melanin. The skin darkening is caused from sun exposure, medications, medical conditions, acne, rashes, burns and skincare products.

Dark spots can be treated by using sun protection creams. It is best to stay away from heavy skin treatments. Skincare products with hyroquinone, alpha hydroxy acid and retinoids are well effective to reduce dark spots and skin pigmentation.
