An angiogram is a specialized test which is used in the detection of heart disease. In this test a fluorescent dye is injected in the arteries by a catheter to visualise the flow of blood through them. In this way it can be used to identify the exact location of a blockage or damage in a particular artery.
This is a unique technique and is recommended worldwide for the evaluation of several cardiac problems like coronary artery disease (CAD), atherosclerosis and aneurysm. Angiogram may be recommended in case of symptoms like recurrent chest pain, persistent high BP or other heart related disease and thus, can determine the severity of the diseases.
