Why do you get cramps during sex? (Query)

It could be because of a urinary tract infection.

I am a 26-year-old girl. Initially, I would not experience any pain during sex, but now whenever I have sex with my boyfriend, I experience painful cramps. Is it normal to experience cramping during and after sex if you are not expecting periods?

It is okay to wonder if what you experience between sheets is normal. And if you experience cramps during sex you are not alone. Many women have complained of cramps during sex. We also agree that cramping during sex is something which makes sex extremely undesirable. You can experience a cramping during sex if the cervix which is the bottom portion of the uterus has been jarred with penis, finger or sex toy. Read this first-time sex guide for women.

A cramping sensation can sometimes also be the result of discomfort in the urinary tract or the bladder. In this case, try emptying your bladder before and after sex to reduce cramping during and after sex. An infection in the cervix could also trigger pain during sex. This is because the penis reaches the cervix during maximum penetration. Topical creams that treat vaginal infections could be of help. However, talk to your doctor before using one. An infection in the cervix would need medical monitoring or a test like a pap smear to ascertain the cause
