What is the cause of red spots on my penis after sex? (Query)

Do not ignore red spots on the penis as it could be a sign of diabetes or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

I am a 30-year-old male. I recently had sex with my partner. But after having sex, I had red spots and rashes on my penis. Although this is not the first time I had sex with my partner. What could be the cause of it? Should I consult a doctor? Please help.

According to Dr Bhosale, red spots on the penis can be caused due to various reasons such as an infection, lack of proper lubrication during sex, diabetes, lice infestation or allergies. Hence, it is important to consult a doctor and let him decide how to treat the condition, based on the cause. As in some cases, a mere physical examination is sufficient to know the cause, while in some, a series of tests are recommended to diagnose the condition. Infections: It is mainly sexually transmitted infections (STIs) which occurs only after having sex with someone who is suffering from the disease. It could be

  • Trichomonalis vaginalis It manifests as red spots on the penis, which can be diagnosed with physical examination and treated with a single dose of medication.
