7 tips to talk about your past relationships with your partner

You have to be extremely careful when you discuss your past relationships with your partner. While it is good to discuss the past if it matters to your current partner but you need to tread properly to avoid any dents in your current relationship.   • Thumb rule Say what they want to here instead of saying what they should here. If you know your partner for some time, you know what will hurt them and how progressive or open-minded they are. So judge and then reveal.
  • If they haven t had an exciting love life before you, be careful. It is not always taken in a positive way especially if they are the insecure kinds. You can certainly tell them about your affairs but don t mention every little fling or start counting on your fingers. Remember, you are not bragging to your friends about your exes.
  • Avoid discussing sexual partners. Your casual sex buddies, one night stands and their count are not so important. You may give a brief idea but don t delve into details. Read: 5 things you must never judge your girlfriend or wife on.
  • Never make them feel inferior by praising any ex or a sexual encounter of the past. Your current partner needs to feel special and it is your job to boost his confidence that you are happy with him and here to stay long.   • If you are in the early days of your relationship, don t go discuss things like how your exes praised you in bed or the crazy fantasies you ve fulfilled. If your partner hasn t ever done such wild things, it s tough for them to understand the situations that lead to all this.
  • Keep a close eye on their expressions while talking. If you see their eyes wide open on certain confessions or a disappointed look when you start talking about a certain experience, modify it in a way where they don t feel underestimated.

Remember, if you plan to spend your life with this person, you need to treat them as the most important part of your present and future. While revealing the details of your past, don t spoil what exists between you two currently. Say it all but put it in a correct way so as to not hurt their sentiments.
