Sex addiction

Sex addiction refers to extremely frequent urges, behaviours or thoughts in men and women to indulge in sexual activity. In women, this is termed as nymphomania whereas in men it is called satyriasis. It’s considered a disease by the WHO though there’s no explanation for it. Some believe it’s common with bipolarity while others include compulsive and impulsive behavioural models. Like alcohol addiction or drug addiction, there are self-help groups for people to cope with the condition.

Sex positions

Sex positions refer to the positions that people adopt for the purpose of sexual activities or sexual intercourse. There are numerous sex positions like missionary, sixty nine, doggy style, etc. that partners can adopt to spice up their sex life!  (Also read: 10 sex positions for body-conscious days)

Sexually Transmitted Disease/Infection

The term STDs or Sexually transmitted diseases refer to diseases that are transmitted by some form of sexual contact or another including kissing, oral, anal or vaginal sex. Most of these diseases aren’t just spread exclusively by sexual acts and can follow other routes like touching, mother to infant, intravenous needle use, blood transfusion, etc.  Some of the common ones include syphilis, gonorrhoea, herpes, genital warts and of course HIV/AIDS. (Also read: Sexually Transmitted Diseases – you could have one!)

Sixty Nine

Sixty Nine is a popular sex position where both partners perform oral sex on each other at the same time! Despite its popularity, it is not an easy position to master and can take some co-ordination and manoeuvring for both partners to get comfortable.

Spooning sex position

The position is called spooning because it represents the way two spoons lay alongside each other. This one is more popular because it requires considerably less work from both parties. It’s one of the more lazy sex positions. Basically, it’s a version of rear entry but instead of the woman lying on her chest or bend on her knees she is on her side. (Also read: Top sex positions: Spooning)

 Standing sex position

It is a sex position which demands some athleticism and strength especially from the male partner.  It usually involves the female partner with her back against the wall using it as a support while the male partner enters while supporting her bodyweight by holding her up. (Also read: Top sex positions: Standing)

Transvestite

Unprotected sex

Unprotected sex refers to sexual activity engaged in without the use of condoms or any other form of precaution against pregnancy or STDs. It is highly dangerous to have unprotected sex with unknown partners and can result in HIV and other such diseases.

Uterus

The uterus is a major female reproductive sex organ that located between the bladder and the rectum. One of its main functions is to nourish the developing foetus prior to birth.

Urinary Tract Infection

Vaginismus

Vaginismus is a painful condition that affects women mostly during sex. It’s the involuntary spasm of the muscles of the lower end of the vagina, something that can make intercourse extremely painful. It occurs because instead of relaxing, the muscles tense up and a woman suffering from the condition can’t control when the muscles will spasm. (Also read: Could vaginismus be making sex painful for her?)

Vaginal intercourse

Vaginal intercourse refers to the insertion and thrusting of an erect male penis into a female vagina for the purposes of sexual pleasure or reproduction.

Vibrator

A vibrator is a sex toy that is used by females for sexual stimulation and masturbation. Hysteria – a 2011 film, starring Hugh Dancy and Maggie Gyllenhaall, depicts the story behind the invention of the device by Dr Mortimer Granville.
