What causes orgasm headaches?
Men and women can experience headaches brought on by orgasm and sexual excitement called primary sexual headaches. Though experts are not sure about the cause of these headaches, they feel these are exertion-related headaches which are also caused by exercise. Another theory is that these headaches may be brought on by adrenaline that floods the blood during intense sexual activity. Experts also believe that when person orgasms just like a cough may increase the pressure in the head, which in turn may lead to headaches. Orgasm headaches are more likely to strike if you frequently get migraine headaches. While it is not definite what causes it, some other risk factors include obesity, kneeling position, the degree of sexual excitement, stress and a family history of a headache.
What type of a headache can you experience?
Regardless of the cause of these headaches, these headaches feel like a dull ache in the head or the neck. You may feel a sudden throbbing headache immediately after you achieve an orgasm. However, the headache disappears after a few minutes. A headache may occur after sex when you stand up and lessen as you lie back down in the bed. So if one day you wake up with morning sex and experience a sudden, throbbing headache while you orgasm, make sure that you see a doctor to rule out any other serious condition.
