Ashwagandha -- a natural remedy to boost sperm count

Find out how you can use Ashwagandha to boost sperm count and battle male infertility.

Low sperm count is one of the most common causes of infertility in men. However, certain herbs have been scientifically proven to boost sperm count and battle male infertility. Ashwagandha or Indian ginseng is one of them.

How does it work?

Ashwagandha acts as an excellent aphrodisiac for men. It stimulates the production of nitric acid in the body which expands the blood vessels that carry blood to the genitals. This leads to increased sexual desire. A study published in the Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that the extract of ashwagandha root can significantly increase sperm count, sperm motility and sperm volume[1]. This herb also stimulates the production of testosterone.

How to consume?

In a glass of warm milk, mix teaspoon of ashwagandha powder. Drink this concoction twice a day. You may need to consume it continuously for a few days to begin seeing results.

Alternatively, you can also consume the ashwagandha root extract but make sure that you consult your doctor before you have it. You can also take tablets or capsules of ashwagandha but check for the withanolide content (higher the withanolides, lesser the number of tablets you need to consume). Also, remember to ask your doctor about the dosage and check if the herb is safe for you. Avoid the herb if you suffer from high blood pressure.
