Here is why eating fruits during pregnancy is a great idea!

Pregnancy is the time to eat right and healthy. While we all know this, we still tend to slip from the track and snack on unhealthy foods to satisfy our cravings. It is okay to give in to your cravings once in a while. However, it is necessary to keep a check on your cravings and plan your diet the right way so that cravings don t get the better of you. Here is what your pregnancy cravings say about you.

One way to do it is to include lots of fruits as your snack to beat hunger pangs and prevent cravings. It is usually advised that every pregnant woman should eat at least three servings of fruits every day to nourish her body with antioxidants and vital nutrients. There are various ways to include fruit in your daily diet, here are some of them:

  • Add chopped fruits like apples, bananas, strawberries to your bowl of breakfast cereals to start your day with the goodness of fruits.
  • Pack a fruit salad as your 4 p.m. snack. This will stop you from falling prey to chaat and other savouries when hunger strikes in. Here is your eating out guide during pregnancy.
  • Eat an apple for dessert. If you have sweet cravings, instead of indulging in sweets which will just pile up calories and give you no nutritional value, eat a whole fruit.   • Include fruits of various colours in your diet. The more colourful your choice of fruits the more antioxidants you will gain out of them. So don t limit yourself to just an apple or pear a day. Gorge on the berries and seasonal fruits that you can lay your hands on.

  • Before consuming fruits make sure you wash them thoroughly to get rid of pesticides and chemicals from their surface.
  • Consume a whole fruits than fruit juices to gain benefits of the same.
