Avoid fluids in the morning to counter morning sickness

Morning sickness is common and probably hits every woman during the first trimester of their pregnancy. Though the severity can differ from person to person but its difficult to avoid nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Morning sickness can happen at any time during the day but it is more common in the mornings and hence the name.

One way to counter morning sickness is to make a slow start and skip fluids early in the day. After you wake up do not leave your bed in a jiffy to kick start your day, instead lie down for a few more minutes. Relax and allow your body to recover and get into the groove of a busy working day. Get up from the bed slowly, turn to one side, put your feet down, lift your upper body, sit for few more seconds and then get up and get going.

If you have tea, coffee, a warm glass of water early in the morning, avoid doing it now. Having liquids on an empty stomach can aggravate the symptoms of morning sickness leading to nausea and vomiting. Instead have a toast, crackers or a biscuit to get your system to work. Being on an empty stomach for too long can again give rise to nausea. So make sure you eat something soon after you wake up.
