Going to an IVF expert can be a harrowing experience for couples, not to mention discussing an issue like infertility which is quite a social taboo even in this day and age. Dr Aniruddha Malpani, an infertility expert tells us more about the traits one should look out for in an IVF specialist.
1. Answers all your questions and doesn't dismiss them as being trivial. Believes the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. Responds to your email (usually within 24 hours) and doesn't force you to come in for every little problem.
2. Is fully staffed, with a full-time experienced embryologist, so he/she does not have to depend upon external experts.
3. Respects you and treats you like an intelligent adult. Does not talk down to you and does his best to educate you, so you have realistic expectations of your IVF treatment.
4. Is open and transparent and provides clear documentation of all your IVF treatment, including photos of your embryos.
5. Is clear about your costs upfront, and provides a receipt for 100% of your payments, so there are no surprises later on.

6. Has a high success rate because the lab and clinic are modern, up-to-date and well-equipped , but will not succumb to hype and buy the most expensive gizmos just to earn a quick buck.
7. Uses state-of-the-art proven technology, but does not over-test or over-treat in order to fleece you.
8. Is focused on doing IVF because he does only IVF treatments and nothing else. This is core competence and he/she loves accepting challenging patients who have failed IVF cycles elsewhere.
9. Is always available, because he/she has only one clinic and does not travel anywhere else. Does IVF throughout the year, and does not batch his patients to suit the convenience of visiting IVF experts from other clinics.
10. Doesn't have assistants, and does the consultations himself, because he/she believes in putting patients first.
