When you are pregnant everybody wants to feed you healthy food whether you like it or not. Be it your mom, aunt or grandmother, everyone will be out with at least one recipe for you that promises a lot of benefits both to you and your baby. One such recipe, dry fruit ladoo, was one of my aunt s favourite. This was my personal favourite as I love to gorge on sweets. Dry fruits are an excellent snack for pregnant women as they are the powerhouse of vital nutrients, protein and omega-3 fatty acids. All of these help in the development of the baby and keeps the mother going strong. Here are seven essentials of a pregnancy diet that every woman should follow. In fact, I started my day with a dry fruit ladoo every day after my seventh month of pregnancy and could feel that it really did help get over my fatigue. Well, don t just take my words, try it for yourself and see the results. Here is the recipe for you: Ingredients
cup almonds
cup walnuts
cup cashew nuts
Handful of raisins
cup apricots (finely chopped)
2 cups seedless dates (finely chopped)
cup figs (finely chopped)
Pinch of cardamom powder
Pinch of cinnamon powder
Few drops of vanilla essence
Method
In a pan dry roast the dried almonds, walnuts, cashew nuts till it turns golden brown.
Put them in a blender and blend. But beware; don t make a fine powder of the same you need them just chopped into small pieces.
Next mix these nuts with dried apricot, dates and figs, all finely chopped. Add a pinch of cardamom and cinnamon powder and few drops of vanilla essence and mix thoroughly.
Next make small ladoos and store in an airtight container.
Avoid having this ladoo if you are allergic to nuts and dried fruits.
There are approximately 150-200 calories in one dry fruit ladoo. So be cautious, don t go overboard and keep piling calories. You can restrict to having just one per day.
If you are suffering from gestational diabetes, stay away from this ladoo.
