Missing periods is one of the first signs of predicting your pregnancy in a natural way. This is because the various hormonal changes that happen in the body after conception, restrict menstrual cycle. To be precise, the body starts to secrete hCG or human chorionic gonadotropin hormone which stops menstruation for the duration of your pregnancy. In the general scenario, during the monthly cycle of a woman, an ovum starts to mature in one of her two ovaries. The blood-rich lining of the uterus also thickens due to the hormone progesterone produced by the ovaries. After a fortnight ovulation occurs which means the ovaries releases an egg into the fallopian tube. If a woman has sex at this time and the sperm and the ovum unite to form an embryo, it attaches itself on the wall of the uterus. In case she doesn’t get pregnant, the progesterone levels drops and the thickened lining of the uterus along with the egg sheds from the uterine wall during periods. However, in case a woman becomes pregnant, and the embryo instills itself on the uterine wall it starts to secrete hCG hormone and menstruation stops. This implies the start of the pregnancy. Keep in mind, some amount of bleeding or spotting despite the implantation of the embryo is possible. Read to know common signs and symptom of pregnancy spotting.
