Apart from correcting diet habits and doing regular exercises my doctor has also advised me to cut back on my coffee intake too. But I am addicted to coffee and have been drinking it for a long time. If you cannot do without your daily caffeine fix, limit your intake to just two cups a day. Ideally you should avoid coffee completely. ‘Excessive caffeine intake during pregnancy especially during the first trimester can lead to miscarriages or other health related issues in the fetus. It is better to exercise moderation here and limit intake,’ says Deepshikha Agarwal, a Mumbai-based dietician and sports nutritionist. Also the recommended caffeine intake is 150mg per day. To avoid pregnancy complications or fetal ill health, it is better to stick to a cuppa in the morning and one in the evening. Also Read - Caffeine: Is it safe to consume it everyday? Find out
