Operation Sindoor: On May 7-8, 2025, the Indian armed forces under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched "Operation Sindoor" a planned and precise mission targeting nine terrorist base camps located across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). All these 9 base camps of the terrorists were reportedly behind the heinous attacks that took place in India in the past few years, including the recent Pahalgam attack. This meticulously planned operation marks one of India's most decisive cross-border actions in recent years, aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure threatening national security.
But did you know why the mission to eliminate terrorism from its roots was named Operation Sindoor? In a powerful message to the nation and the entire world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi explained the emotional significance behind the name. He explained that the reason lies in the barbaric terrorist attack that took place on 22nd April - in the silent valleys of Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam district. In this horrific incident, 26 innocent male tourists were brutally gunned down in front of their wives and children. The massacre didn't just take lives it symbolically wiped the sindoor (vermilion) from the foreheads of married women, leaving families shattered and scarred forever. "Operation Sindoor" stands as a tribute to their loss and a vow that such pain will not be forgotten.
