Have you ever stopped to think why exactly weight loss is so difficult for older women? Well, there are multiple factors that play huge roles in your body. Weight loss is a tricky subject in the first place. As you get older, your body, diet, habits and sleep pattern changes and they also impact your ability to lose weight.

Hormonal Changes

Woman go through a major phase when they hit the age of 40 and 50. Menopause is a natural biological phase that brings a lot of changes in a woman's body, appetite and hormones. During menopause, the estrogen level in the body drops, this can lead to an increase in fat.

Your Metabolism May Slow Down

It is natural for your metabolism to slow down when you are older. It officially slows down after you hit 30 and the its keeps slowing down. If you do not eat right and exercise often, it may lead to weight gain and this weight may be difficult to shed.

Sleep Pattern

As you become older, it becomes increasingly difficult for you to fall asleep at night. This is an age thing. You may have to work really hard to sleep for more than 5 or 6 hours. Poor sleep can also lead to weight gain.

Sedentary Life

The older you get, the less active your lifestyle becomes. Because of age, your energy level may be lower, you may spend all day working and both of these results in a completely sedentary lifestyle. If you want to lose weight, you have to lead an active lifestyle which means dragging your body to the gym at least three days a week.

Age lead to muscle loss. This can lead to fat gain also. So, in order to avoid this, you have to keep hitting the gym.
