High uric acid

High uric acid levels also known as hyperuricemia are a common medical condition when your body breaks down chemicals called purines in food and drinks. Researchers explain that most uric acid dissolves in your blood and passes through your kidneys and leaves your body as a pee. Hyperuricemia occurs when too much uric acids stays in your body. Cleveland Clinic states, "Hyperuricemia causes uric acid to clump together in sharp crystals. These crystals can settle in your joints and cause gout, a painful form of arthritis. They can also build up in your kidneys and form kidney stones." Here are five natural ways to lower uric acid in your body.

Avoid alcohol

If you know that your uric acid is high ensure you avoid alcohol or any sugary drinks to reduce the risk of developing gout. Drinking too much alcohol or soda can interfere with the removal of uric acid from your body. Keeping in mind to avoid or reduce alcohol consumption is the first step to prevent gout.

Weight loss

Another simple yet effective way to lower uric acid in your body is managing your weight. Being overweight increases the chance of developing gout as it stresses your kidneys and disrupts the normal function of your organs resulting in too much excess uric acid in your body.

Although there is no evidence of the positive impact of cherries in loweric uric acid scientists recommend that eating cherries may ease the symptoms and also reduce inflammation.

Drink coffee

Although coffee may contain acid it is different from uric acid that is in your body. Researchers recommend that drinking coffee every day can actually help reduce your uric acid level by several means. Adding this beverage may slow the breakdown of purines into uric acid.

Drink plenty of water

One of the best ways to reduce uric acid in your body is drinking plenty of water. Ensure drinking atleast eight glasses of water in a day to reduce symptoms of gout. Enough fluid in your system can help your kidneys excrete uric acid in your urine. Disclaimer: This article is for informational purposes only and does not replace medical advice.
